Hope for the New Millennium by Jay E. Adams Timeless Texts, Inc. 9127 Bertram Ct. Huntersville, North Carolina 28078 2000 iii_viii+56pp Soft Cover Dr. Adams in the Introduction says, "It is my cherished desire for this book to equip you to enter the new millennium not only with assurance that God will do all things well, but also with greater confidence that, no matter what may happen, you will be able to serve Him as you should." The ten brief chapters cover both the need for hope and the source of that hope. Take the titles: What the World Needs Now; Hopeless Substitutes; What Hope Involves; What Hope Does; The Source of Christian Hope; Some Specifics; Hope for Your Marriage; Hope from an Enlarged Confession of Faith; Hope in Hebrews; and Conclusion. In this brief volume Dr. Adams devotes an entire chapter to Marriage, bringing out points many have probably never considered. Perhaps the most thought_provoking is the chapter "Hope From an Enlarged Confession of Faith." When you read the chapter you will see that he is saying much you have thought as you read the Confession yourself. Another especially meaning_ filled chapter is the one on Hebrews. The drift away from the faith of those early believers came perhaps from persecution then as now. For the believers in Hebrews the persecution was the threat of torture and death. Today it is often more subtle but equally deadly. "The new millennium has come. What will it be like? No one knows but God. Surely He is calling you to do all that you can to make it the kind of millennium that it ought to be. Will you join forces with those who see this possibility to do so?" (P56) + Christian Observer
