John Brown (1784_1858) This is volume in the Geneva Series of commentaries

which includes commentaries by John Calvin on Genesis, Jeremiah and

Lamentations, and Daniel. John Brown's book is student's delight because it

is so well outlined and summaries of each chapter are provided. He wrote:

That "it has been my sincere desire to bring out of the inspired words what

is really in them, and to put nothing into them that is not really there."

The table of contents is an excellent outline of the book. His list of

sources is an indication not only of what was available at the time of

writing but also how extensive was Brown's scholarship
